Zvijer - Zvjerovanje

Bosnian black metal duo Zvijer return with Zvjerovanje, their third full-length album and the first chapter of a planned trilogy.

Translating approximately as “Faith in the Beast,” Zvjerovanje draws upon the band's fascination with dark Balkan folklore, death and misanthropy, forging these influences into what Zvijer themselves describe as Balkanian barbaric black metal.

Across seven substantial compositions, raw and aggressive black metal forms the foundation: abrasive guitars, furious blast beats and the commanding vocals of Knjaz. Yet Zvjerovanje reaches considerably further, moving through slower atmospheric passages, discordant riffs, clean and choral vocals and subtle elements drawn from Balkan and Slavic musical traditions.

The result is a dark and dynamic album that shifts naturally between outright aggression and more ominous, ritualistic passages. Rather than simply recreating the sound of traditional second-wave black metal, Zvijer use those foundations to create something distinctly their own — primal, atmospheric and deeply rooted in the darker mythology of the Balkans.

Created by Knjaz on vocals and lyrics and Insanus on all instruments and music, Zvjerovanje is an intense exploration of the beast within: savage, melancholic and steeped in rural mysticism.
