Waeltaja - Omega Monolith

Finnish dungeon synth project Waeltaja returns with Omega Monolith, a bleak and immersive journey through melancholy, solitude and the windswept landscapes of the far north.

Across four extended compositions and almost an hour of music, Waeltaja combines traditional dungeon synth with a strong dark ambient undercurrent. Sombre synthesised melodies unfold slowly through cold atmospheric textures, evoking the spirit of early dungeon synth and the haunting keyboard passages once found hidden within the intros and outros of underground black metal.

Where its companion album Centuries Of Sorrow moves towards more abstract, synth-driven ambient territory, Omega Monolith embraces the traditional foundations of dungeon synth. Medieval-inspired melodies emerge from layers of mournful electronics, creating a deeply nostalgic atmosphere filled with longing, loss and isolation.

Titles such as To Walk Among Bones And Ash and Prayers Of Extinct reinforce the album's desolate character — music for ruined landscapes, forgotten histories and solitary journeys through the cold.
